White sand, clear water
One of the island's quietest beaches.
One of Langkawi's loveliest and quietest beaches, at the far north of the island, away from the crowds of Cenang. Soft white sand, clear water shallow in many places, casuarina trees that give the beach its shade and its name, and small limestone islets and rocks rising from the sea in front. At low tide the water recedes so you can walk out to some of the nearby rocks and islets, a sight children and photographers love. There are luxury resorts on the beach, but the public stretch is open to all, and boat trips leave from here to the mangroves, caves and neighbouring islands. The beach is free and always open, with fewer services than Cenang, so bring water and food or rely on the few restaurants nearby. Swimming is pleasant on calm days, but watch for jellyfish in some seasons. The best time is late afternoon until sunset, when the islets and sky turn gold. If you want quiet and nature rather than markets and crowds, this is your beach on Langkawi.
