Tatajuba is a beach and small village in Camocim, at the far western end of Ceará's coast, about 390 km from Fortaleza, named after a local tree. No paved road reaches it: you arrive by buggy or 4x4 along the beach and dunes. The classic visit is the «western tour» from Jericoacoara by buggy: it passes Mangue Seco, where a small boat can take you to see seahorses in the mangrove (about R$30 a person, optional), crosses the Guriú River on a little ferry that carries the buggy (about R$50 a buggy return), and reaches Tatajuba village, the Funil dune and the calm water of Lagoa da Torta. A private buggy for four costs about R$550-650 depending on season, and the lagoon has rides and slides for about R$25. It is a full day, so bring sunscreen and water.
