The largest water and thermal complex in Slovakia and one of the largest in central Europe, open **all year round** — and that last point is the whole idea. The water is **naturally thermal**, drawn from about 2,500 metres down at up to 60 degrees and then cooled to usable temperatures. The outdoor pools stay warm in deep winter, so you swim in the open air with the temperature below freezing and snow-covered mountains around you — the image photographed here more than any other. The complex has over **fourteen pools** indoors and out, around **thirty water slides** including some of the region's largest, a wide sauna section, a shallow children's area, and massage pools. Beside it are the **Jánošík** holiday village and a campsite, so the place can be a stay rather than a visit. Note: **very crowded** during school holidays and at weekends. Note: **the areas are mixed**, and the sauna section is often **clothing-free** by local custom — ask on entry if that matters to you.

Both are year-round thermal complexes; the difference is purpose and distance. **AquaCity** is in Poprad itself (no car needed), smaller and quieter and leaning towards **relaxation and wellness**: thermal pools, saunas and treatments, with a direct view of the High Tatras. **Tatralandia** is 70 km away, far larger, and leans towards **family entertainment**: dozens of slides, play pools and the noise of children. The practical rule: with children who want slides, Tatralandia; for two quiet hours after a day walking in the mountains, AquaCity is nearer and better suited. ⚠ Both fill up during school holidays.
