Cacheuta is a small village on the Mendoza river at the mouth of the mountains, at about 1,245 metres, living off its hot springs. Its best-known sight is an open-air thermal park climbing the valley side, with about twenty pools of hot water at different temperatures among rocks and plants, overlooking the river and bare mountains. Visitors move between warm and hot pools, some with small cascades and water massage, and the park has rest areas and a restaurant. The area also has an old spa hotel with therapeutic baths, but the park is the classic day trip from Mendoza, often combined with the nearby Potrerillos reservoir. It opens daily 10:00-18:00 with a daily visitor cap, so buy tickets ahead in busy seasons and holidays. Regular transfers run from Mendoza city at extra cost.
