The Blue Eye is a small turquoise pool fed by a short waterfall, in a side valley near the hamlet of Ndërlysa below Theth in the Albanian Alps of northern Albania, about 38 km northeast of Shkodër in a straight line. The pool lies within the Albanian Alps National Park, created in 2022 to cover most of the Albanian part of the range; some 2,630 hectares around Theth had already been declared a national park in 1966. At Ndërlysa, about 5 km from Theth by road, the Black River has carved rose-coloured rock into natural basins. The white waterfall pours between moss-covered rocks and trees into a deep, very clear pool that shades from green to bright turquoise. Along the path to it, the water has carved round potholes into the rock, and shady forest and high mountains surround the spot. Visitors walk about an hour upstream from Ndërlysa to reach the pool, on a path through trees and rocks. Many sit on the rocks to rest and take photos, and some dip into the very cold water, so take care and stay close to the edge.
