A huge film city on the shore of Lake Tai southwest of Wuxi, built by China Central Television from 1987 across about 100 hectares of land and more of water; it holds China's top tourism rating, and many of China's best-known historical TV dramas were filmed here. Its best-known section is Three Kingdoms City, opened in 1994 after the filming of «Romance of the Three Kingdoms», with the palace of the King of Wu, walls, camps, harbours and wooden warships on the lake, where actors stage horsemanship shows and historic battles. Beside it lies Water Margin City, built for the series «Water Margin», with palaces and market streets of old Kaifeng, and the Tang City area, so visitors wander through different eras of Chinese history built at full size. Tickets to Three Kingdoms City are about CNY 90, and a joint ticket with Water Margin City about CNY 150, per visitor guides. Check the show times on arrival, as the shows are the highlight of a visit.
