Japan's tallest tower and one of the tallest structures in the world, a broadcasting and observation tower in Sumida that reached its full height of 634 metres in early 2011, becoming the tallest tower in the world at the time. It was completed on 29 February 2012 and opened to the public on 22 May 2012. It has two observation decks: the Tembo Deck at 350 metres with wide glass windows, and the Tembo Galleria at 450 metres, a glass walkway spiralling up around the tower. On clear days the whole city spreads out below, and Mount Fuji can appear on the horizon. The tower anchors a large shopping complex, Tokyo Solamachi, with hundreds of shops and restaurants and the Sumida Aquarium, and Tokyo Skytree and Oshiage stations connect to it directly. Tembo Deck tickets start at about 1,800 yen online and the combined ticket for both decks at about 3,000 yen, with prices varying by day and time, according to the official site. Booking ahead and picking a clear day is wise, and many pair it with nearby Sensō-ji.
