Brasília's Digital TV Tower, known as the «Flor do Cerrado», the Cerrado flower, is a broadcast tower built to carry the digital TV signal to the whole Federal District and some nearby towns, in the Taquari sector. It is one of the last designs of the architect Oscar Niemeyer and his last project completed before his death in December 2012. Work began on 15 June 2009 and it opened on 21 April 2012, Brasília's 52nd anniversary. It rises 182 metres to the top of the antenna according to sources, with a reinforced concrete body topped by a metal structure and antenna, and it has two observation levels, the upper one about 80 metres up and the other used as an art gallery. The tower closed from 2013 to 2015 to fix structural and access problems, and 2026 reports say it opens to visitors Tuesday to Friday from midday and at weekends, with a 360-degree view at its best at sunset.
