If your Mykonos is beaches and nights only, no โ if you want the island's true face (a startling interior, a village that eats honestly), a clear yes: the half-day balances the whole trip, pairing with the calm eastern beaches on the way back.

The Panagia Tourliani monastery is Mykonos' other heart โ the island before tourism: a 1542 monastery (renewed 1767) in the mid-island village of Ano Mera, a carved marble bell tower over a white court, and an interior of surprising splendour: a gilded wooden iconostasis carved in Florence, the Virgin's icon that patrons the island, and a small museum of vestments and centuried bells. The village around it is the interior's jewel: a central square of grill tavernas and local bakeries where Mykonians themselves flee the coast's prices and noise โ lunch here is the island's truest meal. Twenty minutes by bus or car from Chora โ an inland half-day (monastery, lunch, maybe the neighbouring cheese farm) showing the Mykonos the posters never knew.
