Trevelin is a small town in western Chubut, 22 kilometres south of Esquel, once an important centre of the Welsh settlement in Patagonia. Its name is the Welsh Trefelin, «mill town», after the first flour mill set up here by John Daniel Evans in 1891; Evans had earlier led expeditions across the steppe in search of new land. The Welsh character lives on in tea houses serving Welsh tea with cakes and home baking, and a museum in the old mill telling the settlers' story. In spring, roughly October to November, tulip fields bloom near the town. Wandering the town is free. It usually pairs with Esquel or a trip to Los Alerces National Park.

Welsh settlers founded it, its name means «mill town» in Welsh, and Welsh tea houses still run there.
