A cave waterfall
A narrow canyon.
A unique waterfall dropping inside what looks like a cave, in a deep, narrow rock canyon, with sunlight slipping through an opening above and cutting through the spray in golden beams, a scene now among Bali's most famous photographs. Visitors descend steps through forest, then walk up the shallow riverbed between narrow rock walls, sometimes wading knee-deep, to reach the rock chamber where the falls come down. The best time for light beams is between nine and eleven in the morning on sunny days. Tickets are modest. The rocks are slippery, so proper footwear is essential, and you will probably get wet. It gets crowded by mid-morning with queues for photos. Come a little early before the crowds, in the dry season, as after rain the water turns murky and the site sometimes closes. Combine it with the nearby traditional village of Penglipuran.

For older children with an adult, yes: the walk is short but the rocks are slippery and water may reach the knees. Little ones need carrying in parts.
