Pristine rainforest in the heart of Borneo, Brunei's first national park, protecting some of the most intact tropical forest in Southeast Asia, with giant trees, clear rivers and an immense variety of plants, animals and birds. Visitors reach the area across the long Temburong Bridge over Brunei Bay, then by wooden longboats up the river through the forest, a journey in itself, spotting colourful birds and hornbills. The park's signature experience is the canopy walk, metal towers and suspended bridges about sixty metres above the ground reached by hundreds of steps, where visitors stand above the treetops at sunrise amid the forest mist. The programme also includes swimming in the river and a small waterfall. Independent visits are not allowed; entry is only on a tour with a licensed agency, with day trips from about BND 155 per visitor guides. The climb to the canopy walk needs reasonable fitness.
