Pools in the clouds

A nature park on the slopes of Mount Ungaran, known for mountain swimming pools perched on the edge of the slope, fed by cold spring water and overlooking a green valley and distant mountains, so they seem like infinity pools among the clouds. Beside the pools are adventure activities: a zipline over the valley, suspension bridges, forest trails, camping and simple restaurants overlooking the view. The air is cool and fresh and the water very cold, so swimming is for the brave. Entry is modest, with pools and activities priced separately. The road is steep and mountainous, and it is crowded on holidays. Come on a weekday morning for calm and clear views, and bring warm clothes for after swimming. It combines with the nearby Gedong Songo temples.
