One of the larger aquariums in Southeast Asia, at the southern end of Cenang Beach, with thousands of marine and freshwater creatures. At its heart is a glass tunnel where sharks, rays and big sea turtles glide over you, surrounded by sections for penguins, sea lions, colourful tropical fish and a rainforest. The penguins are the children's favourite, in a chilled hall made to feel like the Antarctic. Feeding sessions for some animals run at times posted at the entrance, so ask and plan your visit around them. Non-Malaysian adults pay around RM 47 booked online, and it opens daily from ten to six. Some halls are dated and do not match the Gulf's modern aquariums, but it remains an excellent family choice. The building is fully air-conditioned, which makes it the best place for a rainy day or the hottest midday hours, and it is right on the beach, so it combines easily with a swim or shopping in Cenang.
