Villa Ocampo is a family mansion built by Manuel Ocampo in 1891 in Béccar, San Isidro, which became the home of his daughter, the writer Victoria Ocampo, one of Argentina's great cultural figures and founder of the literary magazine Sur. The house was a constant meeting place for writers, artists and thinkers from Argentina and abroad. Restored by UNESCO, it became a house museum in 2013: visitors see its rooms with their furniture, library and photographs as they were, and stroll its broad garden looking towards the river. Visits are by advance ticket with a guided tour of about 45 minutes, and places are limited. It opens Friday 12:30-19:00 and Saturday, Sunday and holidays 10:00-19:00, and pairs with a stroll in San Isidro or nearby Tigre.
