A public park and protected natural monument around the springs of the Bosna river, at the foot of Mount Igman in the municipality of Ilidža on the edge of Sarajevo. Many springs well up from under the rocks at about 500 metres above sea level, gathering in clear pools, streams and small waterfalls crossed by wooden bridges. Ducks and white swans glide on its water among the dense trees; it is one of the country's best-known natural landmarks and a quiet escape from the city. A long, straight, tree-shaded avenue called Velika Aleja leads to it, lined with Austro-Hungarian-era buildings, and visitors cover it on foot, by bike or in horse-drawn carriages, per visitor guides. Near the park, a bridge over the Bosna was built between 1530 and 1550 from the stones of an old Roman bridge. Entry for foreign visitors is 6 KM for adults and 3 KM for children aged 6 to 18, with under-sixes free, according to the price list of the Sarajevo Canton institution for protected areas. Take a tram or bus to Ilidža and continue along the avenue, or a taxi.
