Wadi Al Arbeieen is a mountain valley in the Eastern Hajar range southeast of Muscat. Clear green pools lie between grey rocks, tall jagged mountains rise on both sides, grasses and palms line the banks and small waterfalls spill between the boulders. The wadi is in the Wilayat of Quriyat, Muscat Governorate. It is known for its pools and waterfalls, the main pool being the highlight, with a hidden waterfall reached by a longer scramble over the rocks. It draws lovers of adventure, walking and swimming, and the road in is rough and needs a four-wheel drive. You drive up the valley between the mountains, then walk to the pools to swim in the clear water and scramble a little over the rocks to the small falls. The wadi is about 28 km in a straight line south of Quriyat and about 78 km southeast of Muscat. The track is rough, so only go in a four-wheel drive, and stay out of the wadi during or just after rain, as flash floods are dangerous. Wear modest swimwear and take your rubbish home.
