The Efteling if your group has children under ten or if you want a calm, beautiful day: a fairy-tale park of exceptional artistic design with gardens and gentle rides, and one of the oldest theme parks in the world (1952), which influenced Disney rather than the other way round. Walibi if the teenagers are deciding: its rides are faster and fiercer by a wide margin. Both need a full day and advance booking.

Walibi Holland is the second-largest theme park in the Netherlands after the Efteling, and it stands in Flevoland โ the province reclaimed from the seabed โ about an hour from Utrecht. The difference between it and the Efteling is clear and decides which you choose. The Efteling is a fairy-tale park with a calm atmosphere and family rides, designed for all ages. Walibi is a thrill park: tall, fast, inverting roller coasters, aimed mainly at teenagers and adults. Its best-known rides are Untamed, a coaster on a timber structure with inverting trains, along with Lost Gravity and Goliath. There is a smaller family section for children but it is not the point of the place. Major seasonal events run in October. Go if your group includes teenagers; if the children are small, the Efteling is the right choice without competition.
