Wallilabou Bay is a small, sheltered bay on the west coast of Saint Vincent, ringed by steep forested hills. Its calm blue water holds anchored yachts, palms line the shore, and a sea rock with a natural arch stands at one end. The bay lies on the lee side of the island, so the water is calm on most days, and sailing yachts moving along the islands shelter here. It was used as a filming location for the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, and some wooden set pieces still stand by the jetty. From the coast road above you see the whole bay between green hills. You then go down to the jetty among palms and boats and see the arched rock at the entrance. The volcanic mountains behind are forested right down to the sea. The bay is 11 km in a straight line north-west of Kingstown, on the winding west coast road. It is free, though a small fee may be asked at the jetty. There are no lifeguards, so swim with care.
