A Hui-style village surrounded by water on three sides, once called Yongchuan, founded by Yu Gao in the early twelfth century under the Song and home to the Yu family for centuries; it produced fourteen holders of the highest imperial degree and seventy-three officials, and it is one of China's listed historic and cultural villages. Its best-known building is the Yu family ancestral hall, built in 1736, a protected national monument known for its fine wood carving; the old Pingdu weir, a protected monument of Jiangxi province, crosses the river in front of the village, and narrow stone-paved lanes run between tall white walls. Photographers come at sunset for the view of the village on the riverbank between the hills. Tickets cost CNY 60, and the village is included in the Wuyuan combined pass, per visitor guides.
