A stretch of tropical forest inside the Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve, known because herds of wild Asian elephants roam it, while gaur, green peafowl and black bears also live in its woods. An elevated walkway 2,280 metres long runs through the treetops, giving a close look at the upper layer of the rainforest, a cable car runs above the forest, and the area also has a butterfly garden and a museum about Asian elephants. Sightings of wild elephants cannot be guaranteed, as they roam the forest freely; keep to the paths and follow the rangers' instructions. Entry costs about CNY 60 to 65, and the cable car CNY 50 one way or CNY 70 return, with opening from 8:00 to 18:00 and last entry at 17:00, per visitor guides.
