The Wufengqi Waterfalls are a series of falls in the Wufengqi Scenic Area of Jiaoxi Township, Yilan County, northeast Taiwan, about 8 km north of Yilan city in a straight line. They are named for the row of five steep mountains behind them, whose sharp peaks resemble the five triangular flags worn on the backs of generals in Chinese opera. The falls drop in three tiers with a total height of 100 metres. The upper tier rushes through a narrow mountain chasm, while the lowest ends at the entrance to the scenic area, where there is a barbecue area and a children's play area. White water spills down dark rock faces cloaked in dense tropical plants and gathers in clear pools among the rocks. A viewing pavilion by the middle tier looks out over the lush mountains and the water cascading from the high peaks. Visitors climb steps and a path from the entrance to the viewing pavilion by the middle tier and rest by the pools. The falls can be reached on the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle from Jiaoxi railway station, close to Jiaoxi town.
