A mountain range in western Jiangxi spreading across the borders of several counties, its highest point the Golden Summit at 1,918 metres; it is famous for something unmatched in south-eastern China: some ten thousand hectares of green grassland covering the ridges above 1,600 metres, over forests that clothe the lower slopes, and it is a national geopark. Visitors ride the cable cars or climb the stone paths, then walk the open grassy ridges that roll like a green carpet between the peaks, with a sea of cloud filling the valleys below, and many head to the Golden Summit for sunrise. In autumn the grasslands turn gold, and in summer hikers camp on the slopes. Tickets cost CNY 60 booked ahead or 70 at the gate; the Zhong'an cable car costs 65 up and 50 down, the summit cable car 35 up and 25 down, and both going up 115, per visitor guides. The weather on the ridges changes fast, so bring a rain jacket.

Choices are few on the mountain and in the villages, so bring food; Pingxiang city has a few restaurants run by Muslims under the halal sign.
