An old rural village in Jiande, under Hangzhou, home since 1208 to the Ye clan, whose founding ancestor arrived under the Southern Song; over twenty-nine generations it has grown to some four thousand people, and in 2010 it was listed among China's national historic villages. It keeps sixteen old buildings, among them clan halls, great halls, a pagoda and a temple, and more than two hundred old houses with white walls and black roofs around ponds, earning it the nickname «open-air museum of Ming and Qing architecture»; its landmarks include the Tuanyun Pagoda and the Wenchang Pavilion. The joint ticket for the halls costs CNY 68, from 8 am to 4.30 pm, per visitor guides; the village is lived in, so respect residents' privacy, and half a day suits a visit.
