A garden of tropical plants in the heart of Jinghong, the capital of Xishuangbanna, covering 80 hectares with nearly a thousand varieties of tropical and subtropical plants; it is one of China's rated tourist sites and the easiest of the region's gardens to reach for those without a full day. It is laid out in a series of sections, among them a garden of medicinal herbs, a palm section with many species, a section of tropical fruit trees and one of economic crops, along with lawns dotted with trees, ponds and shady paths. It also shows the plants Xishuangbanna is known for, the region lying on the northern edge of the tropics near the borders with Laos and Myanmar, and electric cars carry visitors between its sections on hot days. Tickets cost CNY 40, or CNY 20 concession, with opening from 8:00 to 18:00, while the electric cars cost extra, per visitor guides. The morning, before the heat builds, is the best time.

It is smaller and closer, inside Jinghong, and two hours are enough, while the botanical garden at Menglun needs a full day, so choose by the time you have.
