A wide mountain area in Laishui County whose name means «Wild Three Slopes», where the Taihang and Yan mountains meet; it has six main scenic areas, among them the Baili Gorge, the Juma River, the Baicaopan forest and Jinhua Mountain. The best known is the Baili Gorge, the «hundred-li gorge», some fifty kilometres of narrow canyons between towering rock walls that almost meet above the walkers on its paths, with a cable car and electric carts for those who would rather not walk far. The Juma River runs calmly between the peaks, and in summer visitors take rafts and boats on it. Visitors arrive on the tourist train from Beijing West station, and the best time to come is April to October. The Baili Gorge ticket costs about CNY 100, half price in the quiet winter season, with the cable car and carts extra, per visitor guides.

Laishui County, about two hours west of Beijing, Baoding, Hebei
Yes, but it takes about two hours each way, so a day covers the Baili Gorge alone; stay a night to add the Juma River and the other areas.
