A small private garden in Nancun, Panyu, built in 1867–1871 by Wu Bin, a Qing scholar who had passed the provincial examinations, and one of the four famous gardens of Guangdong; in just 1,598 square metres it fits a whole landscape, using the classic Chinese garden tricks of hiding views and shrinking scenery. A covered bridge divides it in two: in the west a rectangular stone lotus pond faces the main hall, the Shenliu Hall, with carved wooden screens and old furniture, and in the east an octagonal pavilion stands in an eight-sided pool, with rockeries and the Peacock Pavilion around it. Beside it, the Yu Garden of 1922 has a boat-shaped hall and a glass room upstairs. Tickets are CNY 18, and it is open from 8 am to 6 pm, last entry 5 pm, per visitor guides. An hour is enough, and it pairs well with Baomo Garden.
