Zervynos is an ethnographic village in the Varėna district of southern Lithuania, within Dzūkija National Park near the Ūla river, about 13 km southwest of Varėna and 82 km southwest of Vilnius in a straight line. The village has 48 homesteads; eight homesteads and 32 separate buildings are officially declared ethnographic monuments. It was among the sites short-listed for nomination as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was first mentioned in writing in 1742, and 24 Stone Age campsites have been found around it. An old railway line runs through it. Traditional wooden houses with sloping roofs and wooden fences are scattered among pines and birches, with sandy paths winding between them. The clear Ūla river runs through the village between green banks, and the dense Dainava forest surrounds it on every side. Visitors walk among the old wooden houses and along the river, and in summer kayakers paddling the Ūla pass through. The village is isolated in the forest and quiet the rest of the year, so respect residents' privacy.
