A Taoist temple at the eastern foot of Mount Taishi in the Song mountains, east of Dengfeng, whose origins go back more than two thousand years to the Qin dynasty; emperors through the ages made offerings here to the god of the Central Peak, one of China's five sacred mountains. It spreads over 11 hectares, the largest and most complete of the surviving temples of the five sacred mountains, with gates, pavilions and yellow-roofed halls following one another along a long axis among ancient cypresses. In 2010 it was inscribed by UNESCO as part of the Historic Monuments of Dengfeng in «The Centre of Heaven and Earth». Tickets cost CNY 30, open from 8 am to 6 pm, per visitor guides; visitors are asked to keep quiet and respect the site, and it pairs easily with the Shaolin Temple and the other sights of Mount Song.
