A skyscraper in central Nanjing, 450 m tall with eighty-nine floors, completed in 2010 and the tallest building in Nanjing and Jiangsu province. It was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill under the architect Adrian Smith. Its floors hold offices, shops, the InterContinental hotel and restaurants near the top with views over the city, Xuanwu Lake and Purple Mountain, and its stepped glass façade gleams across most of the city. The tower has had a public observation level near the top, but check that it is open before going. Viewing the tower from outside is free, the best photos come from the shores of Xuanwu Lake and from the city wall by Jiming Temple, and the nearest station is Gulou on metro Lines 1 and 4.
