Zlatar Lake, also called Kokin Brod Lake, is an artificial lake between the Zlatibor and Zlatar mountains in western Serbia, 15 km from the town of Nova Varoš and about 26 km southeast of Zlatibor in a straight line. The lake formed in the 1960s after a dam was built on the Uvac river. It covers 7.25 square kilometres, reaches 75 metres deep and lies 880 metres above sea level. The area has a continental-Mediterranean climate and is a destination for holidays, recreation and water sports. The long blue-green lake winds between hills covered in forest and meadows, with small wooden houses, boat moorings and floating platforms along its shores. In the early morning mist rises over the still water. Visitors swim, paddle and fish, hire boats for trips on the water and walk the shores. The lake makes a trip from Zlatibor and can be combined with the nearby Uvac reserve and its vultures.
