Acqua Mundo is a large aquarium on the Enseada Beach avenue in Guarujá, billed as one of the biggest displays of aquatic life in South America and one of the most visited sights in the seaside city. It holds 49 freshwater and saltwater tanks alongside aquaterrariums and terrariums, and estimates of its animals range from a few thousand to around 8,000 depending on the source, among them penguins, fur seals, sharks and rays. Since December 2020 it has offered a helmet dive among sharks and rays, lasting about half an hour with some fifteen minutes in the water, booked in advance. It suits half a day with children, especially on rainy days when the beach is out. Prices and hours change; check them on the official site before going.
