A gondola of glass cabins climbing in about eight minutes from the town of Banff to the summit of Sulphur Mountain at about 2,280 metres, with views across six mountain ranges, the Bow River valley and the little town below. At the top is a glass building with restaurants, viewing decks and an interactive exhibition on mountain nature, from which a boardwalk runs along the ridge to Sanson's Peak, with an old stone weather station and a cosmic ray station that is now a National Historic Site. Visitors may spot bighorn sheep grazing on the slopes along the way. In the evening the sky colours over the peaks, in winter snow covers the whole scene, and the gondola runs all year. The price varies with date and demand, from roughly C$55 to C$95 per adult, and booking online ahead is cheaper than at the desk, per visitor guides. The summit is much colder than the town, so bring a jacket.
