A building on a pier in Vancouver harbour, its white roof of five sails like a ship under way, built as Canada's pavilion at the Expo 86 world's fair and now a symbol of the city, home to a cruise ship terminal, a convention centre and a hotel. A public promenade wraps around the building with wide views of the harbour and the North Shore mountains, of seaplanes landing and taking off on the water and of huge cruise ships moored in summer, with panels on Canada's provinces along the way. Inside is FlyOver Canada, a virtual flight on moving seats before a giant domed screen, soaring over Canadian landscapes from ocean to ocean with mist, scents and wind. Walking the promenade is free at any time, and FlyOver charges. It pairs with the seawall walk towards Stanley Park or with nearby Gastown.
