One of Canada's largest aquariums and its oldest, opened in 1956 inside Stanley Park, home to thousands of sea creatures from the cold waters of the British Columbia coast to tropical coral reefs and the Amazon rainforest. Favourites include playful sea otters floating on their backs, sea lions and harbour seals, African penguins, a glowing jellyfish gallery and the giant Pacific octopus. Some of its animals, such as the sea otters, were rescued from the wild and cannot be returned to the sea. The Amazon gallery is an indoor rainforest with sloths, tropical birds and giant river fish. There is a 4D theatre and daily educational shows. The aquarium no longer keeps whales or dolphins. Prices are on the official site, and booking online ahead is usually cheaper than at the desk. It pairs with a tour of Stanley Park in one day.
