A small, elegant castle with stone towers and battlements, perched right on the sea rocks of Viña del Mar's seafront with waves breaking beneath it. German merchant Gustavo Adolfo Wulff built it as a family home in 1906, and architect Alberto Cruz Montt turned it into a castle from 1917. A tower was added on a separate rock in the sea, reached by a small bridge, with a glass floor through which you watch the waves crash on the rocks beneath your feet, the visit's most fun moment. Today the castle is the city's heritage centre, hosting changing art and history exhibitions about Viña del Mar, usually with free entry. Its windows look along the coast as far as Valparaíso. It lies between the Flower Clock and the city beaches, so combine them on a seafront walk. Opening times vary with exhibitions and holidays.
