Cesta Tower is the second of San Marino's Three Towers, on the highest summit of Monte Titano at about 739 m. It is a stone fortress with a square tower and battlemented walls above a sheer cliff. The tower was built in the 13th century on the remains of an older Roman fort. Since 1956 it has held a museum dedicated to Saint Marinus, showing over 1,550 weapons from the Middle Ages to modern times. The Three Towers appear on San Marino's flag and coat of arms. You reach it from Guaita Tower on a path along the cliff edge through the trees, looking back at the first tower on its rock. Then you enter the fortress and climb to the country's highest point, with mountains to the Apennines and the plain to the sea. The tower is 330 m from Guaita Tower and 310 m from Montale Tower. Guides give about €9 for a combined Guaita and Cesta ticket, and about €5 for a last-minute ticket after 4 pm. The cliff path is rocky, so wear comfortable shoes.
