The AMALITA Collection, also known as the Fortabat Collection, is a private non-profit art museum in Puerto Madero, opened in 2008 to show one of Argentina's most important private art collections, gathered by the businesswoman Amalia Lacroze de Fortabat, with some 250 works. The building, by the Uruguayan architect Rafael Viñoly, stands at the edge of one of the old port's docks: a main gallery under a glass-and-steel vault, its sunlight controlled by computer-run movable louvres. The collection brings together international artists, including a painting by the English painter Turner, with a broad survey of Argentine art from the nineteenth to the twentieth century, plus temporary exhibitions. It opens Thursday to Sunday from 12:00 to 20:00, with last entry half an hour before closing. Guided tours in Spanish are free with the ticket.
