A pedestrian avenue about 2.1 km long running south from the square of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in Yanta, built from 2002 and renewed in 2018 in grand Tang style, with colonnades of lanterns, bronze sculptures of Tang-era figures and theatres; in 2020 it was named among China's first model pedestrian streets. It comes alive after dark, when the buildings glow gold and musicians, dancers and actors in period costume fill the avenue, and many visitors hire Tang-style costumes for photographs. Walking is free at any time, and the lights and shows begin at nightfall, per visitor guides. Weekends and holidays are extremely crowded.
