A modern interactive museum in Dublin's Docklands, opened in May 2016, telling the story of the millions of Irish people who emigrated around the world over the centuries and their influence on the countries where they settled. It was named Europe's leading tourist attraction at the World Travel Awards three years running. The museum fills historic stone vaults beneath an old warehouse on the River Liffey; visitors carry a «passport» stamped at each stop and discover why people left, from famine to the search for work and freedom. The galleries rely on screens, sound and interactive games, and introduce Irish people who left their mark on politics, science, the arts and sport around the world, which makes it a good choice for families and teenagers. Adult tickets are €22 online; it opens daily 10:00–18:45, with last entry at 17:00, per its official website. It is a short walk from the Samuel Beckett Bridge and the Famine Ship memorial.
