São Carlos railway station, also known as the Fepasa Station or the Estação Cultura, is the old station of São Carlos in inland São Paulo state, on the list of buildings of historic interest published in 2021 by the city's Pró-Memória Foundation. The first station opened in 1884 on «The Rio Claro» line, owned by Major Benedito Antonio da Silva and the family of the Count of Pinhal. When the Companhia Paulista railway bought the line in 1892 it demolished the station and built a large new one from 1908, opened in 1912, to handle the heavy traffic brought by two new branch lines. Its best-known feature is an English-made clock of 1904 on the facade, whose mechanism comes from the same maker as Big Ben's. It makes a short stop in the city centre for lovers of railways and architecture.
