The «Saudade» Station, also called the Roxo de Rodrigues Station, is an old railway station in central Ponta Grossa, Paraná, part of the rail complex built in the late 19th century when the city became an important railway junction in southern Brazil. The nearby Paraná Station was the city's first, but by the late 1890s it could no longer cope, so a new station was planned for passengers heading to São Paulo and to Rio Grande do Sul on the São Paulo–Rio Grande line. The city ceded the land by a contract of 23 November 1899, and the building went up in 1899–1900 in an eclectic style blending neoclassical and Art Nouveau features. Today the station is a protected cultural space, with its elegant façade and forecourt, a symbol of the city's railway past. See it on a walk downtown with the nearby Campos Gerais Museum; Ponta Grossa also makes a base for Vila Velha park and Campos Gerais National Park.
