The Estádio Cícero Pompeu de Toledo, known as Morumbi and currently called MorumBIS for sponsorship reasons, is a football stadium seating about 66,795. It is the home of São Paulo FC and the largest privately owned stadium in Brazil, and its formal name honours the club chairman who oversaw most of its construction and died before it opened. It was designed by the architect João Batista Vilanova Artigas, a leading figure of Brazilian modernism, and its massive concrete bowl and sweeping stands make it a monument of modern architecture; São Paulo city formally recognised it as a cultural building in 2018. Over the decades it has seen historic matches of São Paulo FC and the Brazilian national team, as well as major concerts. Visitors can soak up the atmosphere on match days with the club's fans, while on other days the club runs tours of the stands, dressing rooms and its museum and trophies. Match and tour tickets are sold through the club's channels.
