The Cabo Branco Lighthouse stands on a cliff in João Pessoa's Cabo Branco district, about 800 metres north of Ponta do Seixas, the easternmost point of the Americas' mainland. It is a one-of-a-kind triangular concrete tower with three pointed wings 3.5 metres above the ground, which the architects meant to recall the sisal plant, a long-standing mainstay of Paraíba's economy. It opened in April 1972 and is not a true lighthouse, as it has no light: it is a navigation marker. The site is free and usually visited together with nearby Ponta do Seixas.
