Larnaca's main seafront, a broad promenade shaded by rows of palm trees, which give it its name: «Finikoudes» is Greek for little palms. On one side runs a long sandy beach with calm, shallow water that suits families; on the other stand cafés, restaurants and hotels, with Larnaca Castle at one end and the marina at the other. The promenade comes alive in the evening, when locals and visitors stroll under the lights, and in summer it hosts festivals and fairs, including the popular Kataklysmos festival at Pentecost. The beach is public and free, with sunbeds and umbrellas for hire. The Church of Saint Lazarus and Larnaca Castle are a short walk away, so all three fit into one stroll.
