Honestly yes — hence its fame: 400 descending metres spread over eight meadow kilometres without exposed passages, and croppable: Blauherd to Stellisee and back is half an hour for the photo of a lifetime, or cut down to Sunnegga straight after Grindji. The full walk is three pausing hours — four in photographing, picnicking temper.
Two loved answers: the free Leisee grill picnic (buy meat and bread at Zermatt's Migros in the morning) on the play shore — or the Fluhalp chalet restaurant near Stellisee, famed pies and pyramid terrace, for early starters. Closing Sunnegga has full restaurants too.
Zermatt's rule: the mountain shows and hides by the hour — and the trail is lovely clouded on its own: lakes, pines and whistling marmots around (listen near Grindji). Watch the village webcams' clearings, and keep the walk for a 'half-clear' day: broken cloud sometimes gifts reflections more dramatic than full blue.

Zermatt's most famous stroll and Switzerland's most photographed trail: five mountain lakes in three gently descending hours from Blauherd station — each lake its own character, three mirroring the Matterhorn in differently tempered glass. Stellisee comes first and stars: the pyramid's completest reflection from its far bank — then Grindjisee among the stone pines, Grünsee for the brave glacial swim, little turquoise Moosjisee of the artificial hue, and Leisee closing at Sunnegga: the family play-lake with rafts, free wood grills and playground — the children's Wolli marmot land beside it with its slides. Access is fully civilised: the funicular tunnel to Sunnegga, the gondola to Blauherd — and walking down is the whole trail: an easy meadow grade fitting ages six to seventy.
