A funicular linking the Territet district on the shore of Lake Geneva with the village of Glion on the slope above it. It has run since the 1880s and is among the oldest lines of its kind in Switzerland. It was built at the height of the golden age of tourism on the Montreux Riviera, when grand hotels lined the lake and their guests needed a way up to the sanatoria and mountain hotels above them. The line was part of that system and still performs the same function. The ride is short but steeply pitched, and the view over the lake widens with every metre of climb until it takes in the far shore and the French Savoy mountains behind. From Glion you can continue by rack railway to the Rochers de Naye far higher up, and that is the best use of it: the funicular is not a destination but the first link in a longer ascent.

This is a short funicular climbing only from the lakeshore to Glion. The Rochers de Naye line is a rack railway continuing from Glion to a summit at around two thousand metres, a far longer ride with a much wider view. The two are taken in sequence on one ascent.
