The Gruta da Torrinha lies in the village of Torrinha, 15 km from Iraquara in the Chapada Diamantina, inside the Marimbus-Iraquara environmental protection area, and is considered the most beautiful cave in Bahia, holding the world's second-largest aragonite «flower». It was discovered in 1850; a French team mapped the first 600 metres in 1992, and about 14 km have been mapped today. It is known for rare formations: twisting helictites, gypsum needles that look like glass, and underground lakes. It receives visitors daily 8:00-17:00 on guided tours over three routes lasting from 40 minutes to two and a half hours, priced from R$30 for the simplest to R$150 for all three, with a restaurant and café on site.
