Lapa Doce is a cave system in Iraquara, in the northern Chapada Diamantina, made up of two caves, Lapa Doce I and II, 16.4 km long in total. Iraquara has some two hundred catalogued caves and is one of Brazil's main caving areas, and Lapa Doce is its best-known site, about 70 km from Lençóis. Only Lapa Doce I is open to visitors: it has more than ten entrances formed where the roof collapsed and fairly gentle ground, which is why it is the most visited cave in Iraquara. Tours cover about 800 metres inside, taking an hour to an hour and a half, always with the site's own guides. The price per person depends on group size: R$60 alone, R$40 each for two and R$30 each for three or more; under-5s go free and ages 5 to 10 pay half, guide included.
