A large public botanical garden at Taoyuanling, west of West Lake, founded in 1956 and covering about a hundred hectares of green hills; run by Hangzhou's gardens and relics bureau, it is a main base for plant research and teaching for Zhejiang University. It holds collections of trees, flowers and regional plants around ponds and shady paths, and it is one of the quietest gardens near the lake, visited by locals in spring for its blossoms and in autumn for its colours. Tickets cost CNY 10, booked through the «West Lake tourism» WeChat account or bought at the gate, per visitor guides.
